Day 1: The "Hundred Push-up Challenge"

Knowing I was struggling to get off the (almost three-year-old) baby weight and get back into shape, my BF directed me here.  I love rules and regimes (that's normal, right?) so this seems fun (as in: fun to track in a demoralizing way) and a measurable way to track my progressing in-shape-ness ...which feels like it improves at a drunken snale's pace.

The "Hundred Push-up Challenge" starts with an Initial Test - the results of which determine your relative strength (a.k.a "Rank") and your strength building plan.

No surprise - I could do zero push-ups. My relative strength - sucks, otherwise known as a ranking of 1. As it turns out, if you are under 55 and can't complete at least 5 push-ups, you're ... in need of some work. Which, I guess, is the whole goal.

There are a few other challenges via these "Hundred Push-up" guys - the "200 Sit-ups" and "200 Squats". I figure whilst punishing myself ... I mean getting into shape, why not challenge all sections of this flabby body and go for those, too, right? Worst thing that happens is I am less out of shape than when I started.

So, tomorrow: (1) Sit-up initial test and (2) Squat initial test Wednesday: 45 minutes of cardio and day 1 of the push up challenge strength building.

Wish me luck.
